Development and operation of a Carpathian Basin Education Expert Database for the development of Hungarian education beyond the borders

The basic aim of the project is to create an expert base of Hungarian teachers from beyond the borders, to develop the competences of experts, to promote the development of Hungarian minority education and to establish a professional basis for cooperation with the majority society and its educational institutions.
Education is a key issue for the survival of the identity and culture of the Hungarian minorities living in the partner countries participating in the development. Hungarian language education is legally organised for the minorities counting 1,440,000 persons in Romania and 293,000 persons in Serbia, where Hungarian schools are maintained and Hungarian textbooks are published. In order for the Hungarian language education system for minorities to survive and develop, it is essential that professionals with experience in their own system be included in the expert circles that influence not only the development of their own institutional network, but also the professional and educational policy plans and ideas of the majority state.
The experts of the Innovative Pedagogical Workshop have been cooperating with the Hungarian Pedagogical Association of Romania and the Association of Hungarian Pedagogues of North Bačka for almost a decade in the implementation of various educational content development and training.
The Innovative Pedagogical Workshop has organised and conducted several professional workshops in Hungary and Romania, where we have discussed development opportunities and directions with representatives of Hungarian teachers' organisations from across the border. It was here that the decision was made that the most important strategic goal is to strengthen the circle of experts of Hungarian teachers' organisations operating outside the borders of the motherland and to develop their competences.
We have decided to create a formalised system in which we can put local professionals in a position to be the generators of continuous development and professional renewal. Our aim is to create a system of training and self-training for experts that serves this purpose.
During the duration of the project, we will hold several dissemination events and professional workshops, where we will also host experts from other Hungarian teachers' organisations in the Carpathian Basin for joint reflection and exchange of ideas. The expert database will of course be set up in such a way that interested organisations and professionals will be able to join it in the future.
